I finished on Friday at almost 53,000 words, having got through 4,500 words that day. I had until 4.30pm to finish and at 4 pm I realised that I needed another 1,000 words so I wrote like a demon, my typing speed probably exceeded 80wpm but my accuracy went down to about 50%.
There is still a lot of work to be done in editing it into something publishable, but I think the discipline of writing to a short deadline helped drive the pace.
Would I do it again? You bet - in fact I’d like to write all my first drafts this way.
