Most of the photos on my blog are my own work, others are from the amazing photographers I’ve come across through Flickr, where I have learned so much and rekindled my passion for photography.
In December 2007 I was given a Hasselblad 500 C/M, a medium format camera that is changing the way I see the world. It’s an incredible piece of kit and it’s taught me a lot.
I also have a Pentax *ist 35mm SLR, possibly the world’s smallest film SLR and a Holga among others. I shoot mainly film these days.
The sense of anticipation is one of the things that I love about film - of not knowing how it’s going to turn out until it’s developed.
It goes back to when I was 3 or 4 years old and my dad let me in to his darkroom, and I saw the photos he’d taken, developing in the tray.
But the real magic isn’t in the chemicals, or the film, not even in the camera. It’s all in the photographer’s eye.
